- This program rewrites the disk root directory and file allocation table on
- floppy disks or a ram drive. Drives A and B are treated as floppy disks and
- the last drive on your system is treated as a ram disk.
-
- For floppy disks, you are prompted to press Y to reformat a disk or N to quit.
- The Y option is used for single disk reformatting and assumes that the
- proper diskette is already in the specified drive and terminates when that
- diskette has been reformatted.
-
- For ram disk operation, the program acts as if you had entered the Y option
- even if you dont.
-
- Caution: If you are not using any ram disk, but you do have a hard disk,
- you should probably not use this program.
-
- Try typing:
-
- BLANK
-
- The program will respond with a screen of information including the drive
- letters that are acceptable to it.
-
- For example:
-
- My system has a hard disk which is divided into two drives (C and D) and I
- have installed a ram disk as drive E. If I run BLANK with no parameters,
- it responds as follows:
-
- Syntax: BLANK x:[ Y]
- Where: x = diskette drive id ( A or B or E )
- drive E does not need Y because it is assumed to be a ram disk.
- [ Y] = used to reformat a single diskette
- Function:
- Quickly reformats multiple or single diskettes.
- All files deleted, including hidden, system, and label.
-
- On your system, drive E will be replaced with the last drive. If you have no
- hard disk or ram disk, this will be drive B; though drive B is NOT treated as a
- ram disk but as a floppy.
